New regulations go into effect on December 1, 2016 of the Fair Labor Standards Act’s minimum wage and overtime standards. These new rulings will affect most businesses and nonprofit organizations, possibly substantially, when it comes to whether employees are eligible for overtime pay. Employees who are exempt or 'salaried', but make less than $47,476 per year will now be considered hourly workers and eligible for overtime.
Learn the regulations and find out what you need to know to be in compliance. Our speaker Steven McKinney is Community Outreach and Resource Planning Specialist for the Northern New England District Office of the United States Department of Labor Wage and Hour Division. Steven started working for the Department of Labor in 2010 as a Wage and Hour Investigator. Over the next 6 years as an Investigator, Steven obtained direct experience enforcing the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Family Medical Leave Act, the Service Contract Act, the Davis Bacon and Related Acts, the Migrant and Seasonal Workers Protection Act, H-2A, H-2B, and OSHA (Field Sanitation and Temporary Labor Camps). Prior to becoming an investigator, Steven worked as an attorney for the Law Offices of Ferris & Ferris in Chesterfield, Virginia.
Fees for noncompliance will be stiff - find out what you don't know! This is important for all employers.
